Cancer Sucks, Donate A Wrinkle!

IMG_2012

There is hardly a person who has not been touched by breast cancer through personal experience, a family member, friend or colleague.  am fortunate enough to work with amazingly talented and passionate surgeons who every year donate their time & skills to an amazing cause!

Dr. Paul G. Ruff IV and Dr. Michael T. Somenek of Ruff Plastic Surgery in Washington, DC will host the Wrinkle Erase for the Cause on October 1, 2015 at their offices in D.C.’s West End at 2440 M Street, NW, Suite 200.  Wrinkle Erase for the Cause has raised $155,000 for donation over the past five years to benefit breast cancer research and reconstruction awareness.   Drs. Ruff and Somenek will once again be joined by Erwin Gomez of Karma Beauty Lounge in hosting this event.  Dr. Ruff was inspired by his many breast reconstruction patients, his mother, sister and mother-in-law who are all survivors.  Living in Pink, a local breast cancer charity started by Michele Conley, has been the primary beneficiary of the event.  Michele was a double breast cancer survivor who recently passed away in late 2014.  She remains a true inspiration to those whose lives have been touched by this disease.

This year’s event honors her legacy. WEFTC will run from 7:00am to 7:00pm on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Ruff Plastic Surgery, 2440 M Street, NW, Suite 200 Washington, DC  20037.

Refreshments and light fare will be served throughout the day.  The event is based around injections of the common wrinkle fighting treatments (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, Juvederm, Restalyn, Radiesse).  If someone is considering one of these treatments, it is a perfect opportunity to donate a few wrinkles and see if the benefits of these treatments are right for oneself.  In the past, nearly half of the donors have been new to injectables as antiaging treatments.

Come join the doctors and staff at Ruff Plastic Surgery and donate a few wrinkles to help save a life.

Sips, Tips & Style!

Last Friday, I held a Sips & Style party at the casa and had a ton of girls over for some fashion with Thirty Something Fashion, skin care with Kelley Knows, makeup with Tica Beauty, food and of course, lots of wine! There was an amazing spread of some of my favorite guilty pleasure food, including a giant platter of Astro Donuts. No matter your diet, remember to treat yourself every once in a while!

My good friend Carly came with her sister and brought lots of amazing clothing, jewelry and accessories for her 2015 Boutique Tour for ThirtySomethingFashion. I wouldn’t be able to dress myself if I didn’t have her in my life! From Ella Moss harem pants to Nicole Miller dresses, I found some must-have finds for Spring and Summer. Stella & Dot jewelry along with some other boutique pieces including Lucky Brand necklaces were strewn about with amazing fringe and cross body bags.

I also had Marti Wright from Tica Beauty & Cosmetics over to help the girls touch up their Spring makeup routine and share some beauty tips and tricks. Her makeup is to DIE for and her products are a must in my beauty routine. From her tinted moisturizers to her glow cream and highlighters, these are the tools you need in your makeup arsenal.

Then of course, speaking of beauty routine, I had all my to-die-for skin care products that protect my skin all winter long and prep it for Spring! Mybody and Medical Zo covered my dining room table. I let all the women know what products would work best for their specific skin needs, whether they needed more moisture or sun protection (which is always a must)!

I can’t wait to host another event like this again! It included all my favorites: fashion, beauty and skincare! I love helping other women feel great both inside and out and what’s better than some retail therapy with your besties?!

District Sample Sale: Red Soles & Champagne

Last week, I went to one of my favorite DC fashion events, the District Sample Sale. I am obsessed with this event for a bunch of reasons. Not only can you have a full-on girls night out but you can spend it shopping for a great cause, too. This year, part of the proceeds from the event when to the DC Diaper Bank. While I shopped, I also got to enjoy soooo many goodies! Restaurants from around the District such as Chaplin, Policy and Del Campo catered the event and served amazing cocktails.

There was also a silent auction, a DJ to keep everyone moving through racks of clothes and raffles that gave away to-die for prizes. Some of the stores I shopped were South Moon Under, Emporium DNA, Sophie Blake & Erika Schrieber, Propper Topper and so many more.

District Sample Sale is such an amazing DC event that happens every Spring and Fall. They pick different women’s and children’s focused charities every season to help give back to those in need! A staple of DC, this event is around to stay and I can’t wait to go back next season. I also got to put some Kelley Know’s goodies in the VIP gift bags!
