Weekend Getaway! I’m going back to Cali…

As much as I love love love my little cubs 🙂 I recently slipped away from my toddlers stinky diapers & my teenage sons high school homework (that I still dread to this day) to catch some warmth in Palm Springs!  As I was packing  for my weekend getaway I realized I should share with you a few of my travel essentials!

With spring here and summer fast approaching SPF is a must and I  packed my ZO Skin Health Oclipse Smart Tone SPF 50 for the California Rays. I love this highly advanced, broad-spectrum SPF 50 sunscreen that offers a sheer tinted primer, designed to match any skin tone. To purchase e-mail;

Along with sun filled days by the pool, backyard barbecues, and plenty of outside activities, this spring & summer comes the reality of taking care of your skin. Let’s be honest, sun kissed skin and that bronzed “glow” makes every girl feel beautiful and 10lbs lighter! Who doesn’t want to feel gorgeous? But what makes us feel beautiful in the moment can actually age us drastically overnight. Overexposure to sunlight can exacerbate wrinkles, age spots and dilated blood vessels. It also can alter the skin’s texture, making it look older. It can damage the eyes, dehydrate the skin and lead to cancer. SO LATHER UP LADIES AND PROTECT THE SKIN YOUR IN!

Not to worry! You can have the best of both worlds and still look and feel your best, protect your skin and have a GLOW! Spring brings pops of color everywhere and here above I’m sporting my pop of electric pink liquid lipstick from TICA Cosmetics. To purchase click here!

For my everyday on the go glow look I am loving mybody’s Glowbiotics Hydraglow Cream Oil.  Hydrate, illuminate and celebrate radiant skin with the GLOWBIOTICS™ Probiotic HydraGlow Cream Oil. This revolutionary hydrating cream-to-oil treatment quickly helps reveal a healthy, dewy glow to dull aging skin. The unique, non-greasy formula is infused with an exclusive reflective mineral complex that helps provide a bright, luminous appearance to the skin.

Last but not least…  I’ve always been a fan AND still am of Lancome Oscillation’s vibrating Infinite Powermascara but if you know me then you know I’m a product junkie and LOVE trying new things.

My latest obsession is Better Than Sex Mascara by Too Faced.  I have to say, they had me at “better than sex” 😉   An intensely black, volumizing mascara with an hourglass-shaped brush that separates, coats, and curls each lash to voluptuous perfection.

Hope you feel inspired 🙂 Healthy skin is beautiful skin!

They keep asking… so I’m telling…

I get asked a lot “what do you do for you skin?” Well… winter is the perfect time to be treating your skin to rejuvenating treatments, and I absolutely LOVE ‪IPL Photo Facials‬!! I usually treat myself to them 4 times a year, winter time being the most ideal.  IPL is a great ‪non-invasive‬ procedure that has no down time, and you’re still able to go about your day with makeup. Here are my top 3 benefits of an IPL…

1. Slows down the aging process

2. Stimulates collagen

3. Reduces ‪pigment/‎sun-damage‬

Cancer Sucks, Donate A Wrinkle!

There is hardly a person who has not been touched by breast cancer through personal experience, a family member, friend or colleague.  am fortunate enough to work with amazingly talented and passionate surgeons who every year donate their time & skills to an amazing cause!

Dr. Paul G. Ruff IV and Dr. Michael T. Somenek of Ruff Plastic Surgery in Washington, DC will host the Wrinkle Erase for the Cause on October 1, 2015 at their offices in D.C.’s West End at 2440 M Street, NW, Suite 200.  Wrinkle Erase for the Cause has raised $155,000 for donation over the past five years to benefit breast cancer research and reconstruction awareness.   Drs. Ruff and Somenek will once again be joined by Erwin Gomez of Karma Beauty Lounge in hosting this event.  Dr. Ruff was inspired by his many breast reconstruction patients, his mother, sister and mother-in-law who are all survivors.  Living in Pink, a local breast cancer charity started by Michele Conley, has been the primary beneficiary of the event.  Michele was a double breast cancer survivor who recently passed away in late 2014.  She remains a true inspiration to those whose lives have been touched by this disease.

This year’s event honors her legacy. WEFTC will run from 7:00am to 7:00pm on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Ruff Plastic Surgery, 2440 M Street, NW, Suite 200 Washington, DC  20037.

Refreshments and light fare will be served throughout the day.  The event is based around injections of the common wrinkle fighting treatments (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, Juvederm, Restalyn, Radiesse).  If someone is considering one of these treatments, it is a perfect opportunity to donate a few wrinkles and see if the benefits of these treatments are right for oneself.  In the past, nearly half of the donors have been new to injectables as antiaging treatments.

Come join the doctors and staff at Ruff Plastic Surgery and donate a few wrinkles to help save a life.

It Takes A Village And A Magic Wand…

After attending an event this weekend and posting some pics on social media, I received so many compliments on my look that I decided I needed to share my tips! My tips, of course, being nothing short of magic! As a mom of 4 (oh and let’s also factor in my entire teenage son’s entourage – whom I love BTW) let’s just say I am not exactly primping and executing any sort of “style” on a daily basis. To paint a realistic picture, during the summer months with everyone home, I find myself throwing my hair up and living in my pjs/workout clothes most the day (I feel better at least acting like I am going to the gym.) There is most definitely no makeup, and if I’m lucky, I can score brushing my hair and getting my skincare regimen in with every bathroom break I take…. BUT… this weekend I really pulled out the Mommy Magic. They say it takes a village, but I say a magic wand too! This weekend I managed to pull it all together and I wanted to share exactly how I did that. You know me, always brutally honest.. I can’t have anyone thinking  I pulled a Beyoncé and “woke up like this”.  Just not the case 😉 so don’t let FaceLIES (my nickname for Facebook) fool ya – I had help!!! 🙂

Here I am with one of our Nurse Injectors at Ruff Plastic Surgery, Norah Gourlay – I am speaking from experience when I say Norah is an amazing Nurse Injector – she has performed Botox & Xeomin on me and I absolutely LOVE IT!! Feel free to e-mail me at  any questions you might have, I would be happy to answer them 🙂 Check out Norah’s Facebook page here!

In addition to an awesome injector… a girls gotta have an amazing pair of lashes & makeup to accentuate her features – above are the lashes I sported Saturday night, which I purchased at CVS – super affordable at $5.00.

One of my favorite products from Tica Cosmetics is the Baked Blush and the color I can wear all year round is Honeywell.  For the lips, I have a major crush on the color Vintage – which is also versatile year round for me.

I wanted to post this pic above so you could see my airbrush tan I received at my favorite spot here in my neighborhood, Ninotch a urban retreat. I’ve been to a lot of places and Ninotch by far is my favorite – I am NEVER orange, stinky or streaky.  AND I also feel 5lbs lighter 🙂 always a BONUS!

Well there ya go! It takes a village and a magic wand 😉

Happy Birthday To Me!

People have frequently asked me if my products and my skincare routine actually work.  My humorous response is always “well, I’m not going to stop what I’m doing to find out!” 🙂 So, I decided it would only be appropriate to celebrate my 36th birthday this year by analyzing my skin with the VISIA!  The VISIA’s advanced technology provides a Complexion Analysis as well as meaningful skin evaluations, on-screen and printed reports, and tracks treatment progress.  Seems as though my skincare regimen over the years has been working.  (big pat on the back for me).  100% is the best score and I would say from the pics below, I did pretty darn well.  😉 Check out my results!! If you’re ever interested in having your skin analyzed and/or having a consultation for treatment recommendations, please come and see me..  I am located at
Ruff Plastic Surgery In Georgetown at 2440 M St. NW Suite 200, Washington, DC.
I look forward to seeing you!

How To Get A Summer Glow

I recently shared a video about the Illuminator by Tica Cosmetics.  Now, I’m obsessed with Tica’s “baked brownzer, blush & lip color”…..“Baked” matte touch is insanely smart – the products don’t rest in any the creases of your face and the pink color is the perfect pop of color for the summer….makes me happy!

I want to go makeup free!!! How do I get beautiful glowing skin?!

I remember the days that I’d never dream of leaving the house without makeup. I still have those days from time to time, just not sure if my “fresh faced” look will maintain itself through a busy day of errands and activities. I’m pretty sure I have Oprah to thank for that insecurity. I caught an episode on cosmetics a few years ago, just as I was turning 30 in which she looked directly into the camera (or really it felt like she looked straight into my soul and screamed at me) and said “When you’re over 30 you should never leave the house without your
foundation on, because you think you look good, but you don’t!”
Oprah’s “ah-ha” moment suddenly became my “Oh God” moment!

Fast forward to the real world with 3 kids, a busy career, family and an attempt to maintain a social life.  Who has time to apply makeup on those days where you’re trying desperately to accomplish 47 tasks in a mere 90 minutes?  Not me!  So I decided to set a realistic goal for myself, to be BRAVE and to go “makeup free” on my more causal and comfy days.  In order to do this and to feel confident about it (which is the challenge many women face without makeup) I’ve made it a priority to do routine chemical peels, photofacials, and stick to a medical grade skincare regimen, the benefits of which make my “makeup free” days feel fabulous!

My absolute FAVORITE chemical peel is the VIpeel.  The VIpeel does wonders! Great exfoliation, cellular turnover, minimizes pores, diminishes sun-damage & pigment.  The VIpeel also has a targeted solution to purify blemish prone skin and clear the scars acne leaves behind… I typically do 4 a/year on myself.

Some products I recommend to maintain and further your results are:

mybody Brightamin C, Light the Way, and A Team – to help with minimizing pores, fine lines and wrinkles, lighten dark spots, fight free radicals and reduce signs of aging.

Another skincare line that I’m absolutely in LOVE with is ZO Skin Health.

From this line I recommend the Exfoliating Polish, Brightenex, Retamax & Oclipse Sunscreen + Primer SPF 30 to help exfoliate, even skin tone, minimizes skin redness caused by environmental factors and helps maintain an even and restored skin tone.
As well as helps reverse the signs of aging and aids in the prevention of future damage.

Lights… Camera…. Action!

Lights… Camera…. Action!

These are the words that typically have me breaking my neck trying to catch my favorite celeb, TV show, or trying to sneak a peek somewhere of a fabulously high profile photo shoot. These words EXCITE me, thrill me, and this time, I realize that the show is mine and it’s the night of the premier.  Yes!! Any excuse for red carpet celebrations!

After years of friends and clients pushing me to do it, I’ve decided it’s time for me to write, blog, tell all of my stories, and just plain share the world of Kelley.  For
those of you who know me, you know I am an open book.  I share everything, with everyone. I probably over share but I can’t help it!  As an Aesthetician, I’ve been providing my insight and knowledge of skincare to
clients for over 15 years.  I love SKIN!  I love skincare, products, aesthetics, beauty, fashion, and lifestyle-what the heck, I LOVE WOMEN!!!!  And as a woman, a mom, wife, girlfriend, and even a total stranger to some of you, I can tell you honestly that I am 100% in the know of all that makes a woman feel beautiful, and I can’t wait to share it.  Let’s reiterate the “honesty” part, because I promise you that I will always tell it like it is.  With a smile of course, but from me you will always get the truth, raw and uncensored. J  I guess you could say I am the Chelsea Handler of all things pretty!

Looking back, it is hard to pinpoint exactly where my
obsession with beauty began, but I can certainly make a few guesses.  Rewind to my youngest memories of
riding the school bus with an entire secret stash of make-up that I’d borrowed from the Bradley sisters next door. I’d leave the house every day looking like
your average elementary school kid, and would arrive at school prepared in full for the Miss America Pageant.  Or
perhaps I owe it all to my grandmom, who used to revel in the glory of her weekly hair appointments and the nightly ritual of applying “cold cream” to her face.  I remember watching wide eyed as she would pile it on wondering what in the world kind of magic it
worked because her skin was absolutely, and truly flawless.  The cold cream probably led to the next
historical landmark in the beauty journey…  I suddenly became obsessed with searching people’s medicine
cabinets. (klepto anyone?) Anywhere I went, I excused myself to the bathroom to rummage through the medicine cabinet to see what beauty treasures were in store
for me, making mental notes of all of the things that were suddenly “necessary” on my beauty list. And finally, I probably owe some credit to my younger
sister, Katie, who unbeknownst to her was the subject of my endless “beauty school” experiments.  Let’s just
say she definitely endured one too many haircuts and her fair share of wardrobe malfunctions.  She’ll probably send
me the therapy bill.

My years as a professional cheerleader were also very
eye-opening to the world of beauty.
Suddenly I was exposed to photo shoots involving hair and make-up artists, stylists, proper lighting, airbrushing and everything that went into taking a simple photo and making it an incredible magazine spread.  Seeing the finished product of my first photo shoot was a pivotal moment for me. I felt glamorous and beautiful, but most of all, I felt encouraged.  Encouraged because I realized that the models in the magazines that I’d been looking at for years were yes, beautiful, but in no way were they perfect.  I realized that I and every other woman were just as beautiful and just learning to enhance that beauty would make all the difference!  The “model-like” beauty was suddenly so attainable and I was determined to learn how to do it, and to share the knowledge.

Fast forward to today.

I am your everyday woman, wife and mother of three trying to maintain the balance of career, marriage and home life.  While I am focused on beauty, I am also not a superhero and I work hard to maintain the connection of both “feeling” and “looking” beautiful.   Whether I am
lounging around in sweats (or on my fancier days my “lulu”) or getting all dolled up, applying my  products,
makeup, and sliding into something fabulous, my goal is to use everything that I know as the tools to stay true to my beauty.

Most days, you can still find me in the bathroom concocting my next beauty serum with the intensity of a biochemist.  My kids and husband are used to looking
for me there, and know what to expect when I am on a roll discovering the latest peel, laser treatments or skincare products.  I smile when my husband causally asks if he will find my DNA all over the house this week as I do my peel.  I smile because I am thankful that he appreciates my passion and encourages my desire to always know more.  I also smile because the more I know, the more I can share
with each of you.

My journey so far has been an exciting one (and quite
entertaining at times) but it is nowhere near over.  I’m just getting started, and am ready to share with
you!  So here we go, I’m diving head first into this and in typical Kelley style will probably crack my head
open or forget to put on a bating suit, but hey- I never claimed to be perfect, just beautiful

Share the love. Embrace the Beauty. Kelley knows.
